The Cadre, November 26, 1974, Page 2 Dear Editor, Just a short note to corr- eat the Jackson 5 album re— view in last weeks CADRE. The album's featured instru— ment is a clavinet not a clarinet as you so foolishly reported. Clavinet with a V, not Clarinet with an R. Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone and Edgar Winter play clavinet, Benny Goodman plays clarinet. Clavinet is a synthesized organ that produces a funky beat like those heard on Stevie Wonder's "Superstit- ion" and "Higher Ground" etc. Stevie Wonder would not take any notice of a man_ playing clarinet as the article wrongly reported. Clarinets have no place in funky music; only in the Lawrence Welk Band. Just thought I'd clear that up. Ky God........Clarinet???? Kip Puiaa Dear'Editor; Last week's Kaleidoscope consisted of a smug thing 'RESEARCH called "Letter to the Peo— ple of God". This is so Jpper-handed (if I may coin a word) that even the Guar- dian wouldn't print it. It, starts out by stating the ' world is not a nice place to live (brilliant obser— vation) and continues with 'to solve the problems éwe opted, not for a forum of ideas, not for conferences, but for a Council of Youth, gathered from all corners of the globe"!!! This coun— cil, somehow different from a conference,"commits us unambiguously on account of Christ and the gospel". This glowing commitment and smug selfepride is supposed to solve the pro- blems of the world??? Churches are persecu- ted, others are unjust— solve these problems and "all will be for the best in the best of all possible worlds". I would suggest that this is an either/or ‘situation. Either churches are persecuted, making them a real community of men(to use your phrase) or they are not, making them a hi— erarchical, reactionary, self—assured group of‘ nothigs, oblivious to the ~problems of the world out- side their flowered doors. I would further suggest that the Council of Youth varies from the second type only in that it tries to relieve their guilt. Nice—sounding phrases like "we celebrate the ris— en Christ are not going to sooth the agonies of this fucked—up planet. For God's sake since you claim to believe in the concept,or if not for man's sake, at least, get out and do some— thing constructive. Recycle that refuse, ration‘those children, quit sduandering food, join citizen's groups with definite aims, not cute generalizations. Every time‘ any one of us denizens of the fat west throws out a piece of re—useable refuse, buys two cars in as many years, or makes more than two copies of himself, he/ she is showing the he/she is a crime to humanity, a blot on the human race. Signed: Sick of Being A Blot P.S. One further sag: 7 gestion — that groups, I of the Council of Youth's ilk bury themselves in that graveyard pictured on the top of the page. , yourself; then tfiih‘ '35091Wh8¥W€936.. accomplish togefiheygé a For moregvinformation on, . . .. . a the diocesan or religious priesthogod. contact Priests fit the Sacred Heart Delaware, Ontnrlo NOL 1E0 mnfimcssrsanvucs 82.75 or M! . _ I Send ooiu mm may.
