This year Australian trade is expect- ed to total $650,000,000 as compared with Ca-nada’s $637,000,000 for last year. Aiistralia is possessed of great wealth. Last year h-er farm and min- dred millions and the output of her factories four hundred and seventy millions. There are $585,000,000 de- posited in Australian banks, and the savings deposits alone total $243,- counts numbering 1,394,000, or near- ly one to every three of the popifla- tion, a remarkably high proportion which puts Canada quite in the shade. '1`_lie trade per head of popu- lation is also 'much above Canada/s high standing in that particular. The Commonwealth of Australia is a great, rich and progressive young nation, intensely British, -most am- .bitious and very advanced and ad- venturous in legislation. In this lat,- ter field the Dominion of New Zea- land alone leads Australia. In wo- men suilrage, 'government ownership of public utilities, old age pensions and advanced labor legislation both the great antipodean Dominlons ara leading the entire British Empire and most other countries of the world. THE COMING INTERPR OVINCIAL EXHIBITION. ence e s ow w e open o e entire Dominion as it was in 1906 Infants’ A Shoes Our display of those little beauties is the delight of young ' Mothers and' Fond to give a pair of shoes 000,000, the separate savings ac- motion, which will add greatly to the interest and value of the show. he motive power will be supplied y gasoline engines. In addition to these important ad- tions and improvements, the rounds are being fixed up and all he buildings white-washed and reno- ated so as to present an attractive npearance_ lt will be seen from the bove outline that the directors of he Driving Park and Exhibition As- ociation are taking care and thought to make the Exhibition of 1910 a record-breaker in point of ex- ellence and attractiveness, as it is oped also to be in point of attend- nee. Due attention is also being given o the sporting side of the big Fair. There will be three days devoted to horse-racing, in three classes on each day. Also special attractions, which t is hoped will include the newest and best features of this sort will be hown in front of the grand stand. Altogether an excellent, instructiv: and entertaining bill of fare will be presented for the delectation of all who attend. _ We need hardly add that the fine growing season and the excellent field crops which our farmers are en- oying give promise that the agricul- tural exhibits will he of the flnesf and best. In orchard fruits, alone almost, the year's crop may not br up to the average, although even ir this line a -good showing will br’ made. We trust that the exhibitors may be a host in number in all the varied lines of display and that the attendance may be large so as to give to our people the full ediicativr benefits which mi Interprovincial Exhibition is calculated to bestow.
