[Passed May 17, 18W] ‘RTHEREAS it is expedient that Grain and ’ ' Bread Stuffs, the produce of Canada, shall be admitted into this Island free of duty, notwithstanding the same may have passed through the United States, provided the same be imported direct from Canada. I. Be it therefore enacted by the Lieut- enant Governor, Council and Assembly, as fol- lows :-——Grain and Bread Stalls ot'all kinds, the growth or production of Canada, shall be ad- mitted into this Island tree of duty, when im- ported from the said Province of Canada, not- withstanding the same may have passed or been shipped through the United States, on its way to this Island, provided the same be not pur- chased in the United States, and provided the Owner, Importer or Consignee of such Grain and Bread b‘tulfs shall produce to the Collector of Impost and Excise for the Port where the same are landed a certificate duly authenticated under the hand of the proper Customs ollicer or ollicers in Canada, certiilj'ing that the same are the growth or produce of Canaua, and also cer- tificates to the satisfaction of such Collector of lmpost and Excise, that the same have not been purchased in the United States. 11.
