There was a line attendance of young people of both churches despite the cold piercing winds. The meet- ing opened with a devotional ner- vice conducted by, the president of the Bloomfield Y.P.U.. Heber Profitt, i.n which memberl of both groups took part and prayer was offered by Rev. George Cunning- Iiam, of Alberton, pastor of Mill River. and a short address an "The Kingdom of God“ was given by Rev. W. G. Dickson of 0'Leary. pastor of Bloomfield Church. Then followed a splendid presentation of four films by the National Film Board with the projector coming from Alberton. These films were greatly enjoyed. One was "The River of Canada". the mighty St. Lawrcnce. in technicolor. ‘The second one was “The Lunenbutg, N.S. Fishermen." The third was "The Highland Games at Antigon- ish, N5.’ and the last one was a film dealing with hockey. Delicious and abundant refreshments were served. and a vote of thanks was graciously given hy the Mill River Y.P.S. for the fiilo evening of en- iertaiximent and also for the oper- ators of the movie projector. Holman Ltd. advising the Coun- cil that on December M. 1948. they had transferred ownership to His Majesty the King in the right; of Canada, free of charge-the prop- erty known as Holman! Wharf with the right-of-tway te Water Street. The letter stated that the wharf is now under extensive re- pair by the Department of Public Works of Canada for the benefit and us, of fishermen. The cross- ing to the vrharf had been closed some years ago and the Board of Transport Commissioners had given a formal order that. it be reopened. The letter said that. the Department of‘ Public Works wanted a resolution passed by the Council that would Rive the. u- surance that the public approach tn the wharf would he maintain- ed by the Town. A resolution to this effect was then passed by the meeting.
