Meeting At Kensington Discusses Leadership Training The executive of the Summer- side-Kensington branch of the Maritime Religious Education Council met at Remington Unit- ed Church Wednesday evening June zlst. The president explained the purpose of the meeting which was to arrange for a Leadership Train- ing School. Bowness The death occurred at her home in Bumtnersidc on Sunday, June 27th of Bernice Bell Bowness. wife of George A. Bowness after an ill- ness of some months. She was born on November nnd. 1884. at Cape Wolfe. P.1-3.1, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lidstone of Cape Wolfe. The late Mrs. Bmmess was a. graduate of the Prince of wales College and before her marriage she taught school in various parts of the county. Most of her married life was spent in Summerside where she made a host of friends who will sincerely regret to learn of her passing. she was I faithful mem- ber of Trinity United Church and an active worker in the various church societies including the Ladies Social Club and the W.M.S.. in which she held office and where her efforts will be sorely missed. She was also for many years act- ive in all Red Cross work in Sum- merside. she leaves to mourn her husband. two daughters. Frieda. Mrs. Robert Kitchen. Baltimore. Md., Adela. Mrs, Omar smith. Rllmnr. Qua. two sons Dr. Rendle of Toronto. who is expected home for the funeral and Calvin of Vancouver. Two sisters, Adela Lidstone, Bal- timore. Md.. and Hester. Mrs. Jack M-acwilllam. St. Andrews. N. B. and one brother. Leslie of Cape Wolfe, P.E 1.. also survive. The funeral will be held on Tuesday with a private service at the home at 12.00 noon folio-wed by service at Trinity United Church at 2.00 p. m. Barn & Granary Destroyed By fire Fire breaking out on Friday afternoon destroyed a barn and ii granary belonging to Mr. Harold Brycnton. of Coleman. about five miles from O'Leary. Two calves were lost and some machinery was also destroyed. including a hay cutter and a hay rrike. The chicken house on the farm caught, but being of asphalt shingles it did not burn which helped ma- terially in saving the home. The Coleman community ml. and the Church of Scotland were serlously threatened but were saved. An old building belonging to Mr. Pat Mccourt was burned. Mr. Bryenton was working with Mr. Ed Coughlin of Coleman near York about 13 miles from Char- lottetown at the time of the blaze. Cause of the fire is unknown. The O'Leary fire department rendered assistance,- iEliiiaugii Wedding -The First Baptist Church in Summerside was the scene of an unusually pretty wedding on June it. 1950 when Myrtle Eileen. daughter of Mrs. Harry Waugh. Wilmot Valley was united in mer- riage to Lloyd Denzll. son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H083. Central Bedeque. The church was beautifully dec- orated for the occasion with bou- quets of summer flowers by friends of the bride. Rev. C. A. Britten performed the ceremony. The wed- ding music was playsd by the church organist Mr. John Leuty. Mrs. Jack Maclcod was soloist and sang "I'll Walk Beside You” while the register was being sign- The young bride. who entered the church on the arm of her brother Mr. Elmer Waugh by whom she was given in marriage. was charming in her floor length gown of traditional white satin with long sleeves. its full skirt gathered to a fitted bodice with pearls and siiverbeacled trim out- lining a net yoke with high neck- line, and she wore a full length veil with deep embroidered finish falling softly from s headed trim coronet head-dress. She carried a shower bouquet of dark red Peerless Roses. The bride's sister Mrs. Robert P. Hogg was matron of honor and wore a floor length dress of yel- low marquisette with a matching shoulder length veil falling from A headddress of pink flowers. She carried an arm bouquet of Pink Delight Roses. Miss Mina Dye was bridesmaid and wore a dress of similar design in turquoise with matching shoulder length veil and carried a bouquet of Pink Talisman Roses. The bride's mother was attired in a gown of black crepe with pink accessories and wore a cor- sage of Pink Delight Roses. The groom's mother were a dress of navy blue sheer with white ac- cessories and a corsage of Pink Delight Roses. Mrs. Robert W. Hngg, grand. mother of the groom. was attired in black with white accessories and silver fox scarf and eorsage of yellow Queen Elizabeth Roses. The groomsman was Mr. Ralph H018. Hamilton. brother of the groom. and ushers were Mr. Claude Hogg and Mr. J. Harry Waugh. Following the ceremony a re- ception wss held at Briarcllffe, Bedeque for about 30 guests. The bride's table with its nrlLstic ar- rangement of lilies-of-the-valley was centred with a three tier wedding cake topped with a min- iature bride and groom. Mr. and Mrs. Hogg left on the afternoon boat on a honeymoon trip to Ninrs Falls. the bride travelling in a three piece-suit of English tweed with brown acces- sories and conlge of Red Roses.
