Jan. 14 —(0P) -Tha Veterans Business and Profession- al Loans Act, passed at the last session of Parliament as a meas- ure to encourage financial assis- tance to veterans at low rates of interest, will be proclaimed tomor- row, Veterans Minister Mackenzie announced tonight. Proclamation of the 30L wu with- held while regulations for admin- istering it were re-draftcd. the Minister said. This task now has been completed in cal-operation with the Department of Finance and the chartered banks of Gan- flda. The loans under the Act will be’ available to veteran: who have rc- cclved war service gratuities but have not already been given assist- snce under the Veterans Land Act. The veterans may apply for the loan for the following purposes: 1. For purchase of a 17115111855 or partnership. 2. Purchase or repair of mach- inery, tools, instruments or other equipment of business. 3. Construction. repair or altera- tion of. or making of additions to, any building or structure used to be uscd in the carrying on of busi- ness. 4. Any purpose as prescribed which may be deemed to benefit the veterans’ business. Loans will be made for varying purposes, depending on the size of the loan and the individual cir- cumstances of the borrower. The maximum term will be l0 years and the rate of interest live per cent. The Act defines business gs including trade, industry or pro- iession.
