MFI. RICHARD C. A. GRANT
ln the death of Mr. Richard Clement
Albion Grant which occurred ~ai' his
home on Wjater Street yesterday tore-
noon, Charlottetown has lost another
of its most prominent business men
and an excellent citizen. Mr. Grunt
h_ad been in failing health for some
time, and it wasionly, his indomitable
spirit which made him bear up as ‘he
did-to the last. Deceased was born' at
Eurnscliffe. Oct. 21st, 1869 and was
therefore only in his fiftieth year. He
was associated in the grocery business
in his early manhood wth his father
the late Mr. Wm. Grant and upon the
death of the latter he assumed charge
of the business, and some time later
sold out to Mr. R. F. Maddigan and
wen-ti into the agricultural implement
business still maintaining the old iirni
name of Wm. Grant & Co. M-r. Grant
conducted this business for 23 years
very successful-ly. A year ago he took
into partnership Mr. Samuel Kennedy,
Jr. and the business was then con-
ducted under the flrm name of Grant
Kr Kennedy. Since the recent fire
which visited their premises Mr.
Grantfsold out his interest. Some
eighteen years ago the deceased met
with an accident from the affects of
which he never fully recovered and
which doubtless had much to do with
shortening his days. While doing an
uct of charity for a 'poor man, as he
often did for many, he made a miss-
step. falling down the elevator shaft
in his place of business a distance of
26 feet. He liay unconscious at that
time for three hours 'before -being
found. He sustained severe internal
injuries as the result. The late Mr.
Grant served two terms in the City
Council and was 14 years chairman of
the board of assessors. 'a position
which lie was obliged to resign this
year owing to his health. He was ri

There passed peacefully away at
Annandale on Nov. 3rd, 1918 Everette
McDonald at the early age of 18
years. The deceased leaves to mourn

the 'brothers are serving in France,
Gunners Harold and Cameron, Arth-
ur out West, Guy in N. Scotia and
Sidney on he old _home in Little Pond
and .Mrs James Banks of Annandale
besides many friends and relatives
to mourn the loss of a loved one.

The home of Mr. and -Mrs Nell Mc-
Kay, Murray Harbor was greatly sad-
dened on the 19th inst when death eu-
tered and removed their second eld-
est son Richard at the early age of
19 years and ten months. Death was
due to pneumonia following influenza.
This young man was of a quiet reserv-
ed manner energetic and industrious.
He was a great help to his father
whose health T~~~. not been the best

to-mourn srvvv l sisters and broth-
ers. 'Phe funeral was held on Friday'
morning and was conducted by Rev.
E. S. Weeks. The sincere sympathy

he loved, and he has left for his
.stricken family and community,
the memory oi' a blameless life,
to comfort _them in their sorrow
and to inspire them _to live as he
did. The funeral service which
was largely attended was conduct-
ed by his pastor, Rev. J. M. Mac-
Leod.
The sympathy of friends near
and far is with his poor invalid
widow and his children. And to
add to their sorrow news reached
them ofthe death of theeldest
son, Alexander, in the West two
weeks after the death of the
father.
