Montreal, July 18.—A great amount of comment was causad to-day by a well- grounded report that Mr. Bruneau, of Richeliew, Mr. Deslisle, of Port Neuf, and Mr. Fauvel, of Bonaventure, all three sup- porters of Mr. Laurier, have signified their intention of resigning their seats and retir- ing from public life. They aver that the party prospects are quite hopeless both at (Quebec and Ottawa, and as the Government did not increase the indemnity, these pat- riots will serve their country no longer at the old rates. They likewise state that at the last party caucus held at Ottawa, Mr. Sutherland, of North Oxford, grossly in- sulted Mr, Laurier by stating that if the party had a leader from Ontario he would not get down on his knees and beg an ad- ditional five hundred dollars from the tories. -_——- s----—— The Canadian Fisheies.
