The search still con- tinued, and every nook and corner of the town aad adjacent woods was visited by anxiou and excited crowds, to discover the whereabouts of the unfertunate woman. About 4 p. m., she was found in the back part of Mrs. Carleton’s let, a@pout a quarter of a mile from home, lying down secreted as well as could be by the tall weeds and Here she must have remained 15 with only a bed-quilt as a winter 8 bushes. or 16 hours, coverin:: and protection from the blast. A fatal catastrophe occurred on Thurs- day, six miles from Danville, Vt., in Pitt- sylvanian county. Mrs. May, an widow lady, living with her two daughters, ene being Miss Kate May, a_ beautiful young lady, eighteen years of age, and the other Mrs. Herndon, a married lady, was placing a |} lamp on the mantel, about wight o'clock last ev when it was overturned and an explosion followed. Mrs. May was enveloped in the flames in a moment. Mrs. Herndon and Miss Kate May ran to their mother’s assistance, when the clothing of both took fire. The three ladies rushed inte the yard. Mrs. May and Miss Kate continued to run round in a cir- cle screaming and praying loudly for help until they fell dead tracks, com- pletely suffocated and most frightfully burn- | ed. Mrs. Herndon had the presence of} mind to fall down and roll ever continual- Kerosene ning, in their ly, by which means the flames which en- velopec her were finally subdued, but she| was terribly burned and became unconscl ous. The bright glare of the flames attrac- ted a neighbor, who arrived upon the spot as soon 4s possible, but only in time to find Mrs. May and Miss Kate two burning corpses, and Mrs. Herndon lying on the ground nnceonscious. A lady residing at Cow Louisiana, and wishing to ‘set went into the field adjoining her resi- dence, where some of her chickens had been ‘ laying,’ and produced some seven- teen eges and placed them under the hen. Whenin the course of ‘human evenis’ the chickens were hatched, lo and behold there came forth foar small- sized aligators. Itis supposed that al- ligators from an adjoining marsh had de- posited their egs ia the field, and she not knewing the difference placed them un- der the hen. And, what is more atrange, the young alligators follow the mother hen around the premises as happy as a Colorado beetie in a potato patch. — eee - a hen, idison says he can fix electricity so it willrun a sewing machine at an ex- pense of two cents a day. I have waited this ong te see if the cure would remain permanent before dos ing this, my duty, to you, as at first the hap eflects seemed to me to be “too good to true.” 1 was afflicted in my head for years before I suspected it to be Catarrh. Inreadinginyour Circular I saw my case described in many par- ticulars, The inward ‘‘drop’’ from the head had become very disagreeable, and a choking sensation often preventing me from lying lon I would feel like smothering and be eal to sit upin the bed. My health and spirite | f were seriously affected. When your agent — came te Walkertown in August, 1876, I secured three bottles, Before 1 had used a quarter ef the contents of one bottle I found decided ree lief, and when I had used two bottles and # © third, I quit taking it, feeling quite clear ef » that ailment, and have not used any since unti of late I have taken some for a cold in my head.
