An extensive use of manganese bronze in the form of sheets for mining screens is noted on account of the acid mine waters baving no action on it. For roll- ing into sheets a mixture containing more copper and manganese and less zinc is now employed. It is also found that a substitute for German silver can be made by the use of manganese, the different metals and their proportions being as follows: Copper, 67.25; man- ganese, 15.50; zinc, 13; aluminium, 1.25. The color of the metal produced by this amalagmation is pronounced very good for the uses to which it is put and resembles in a remarkable degree the article known by that name.
