Tourist Loans In, a discussion of tourist loans it was admitted that they were not always being repaid but the Government -was doing its best to collect. The loans had been made to assist resort operators in put- ting up greater accommodations for tourists. The loans were amortized and repayment in five or i0 years could not be expected "because if there were that much would all be in it." Hon. A. W. Matheson said. He agreed with the Leader of the Opposition that perhaps some of the loans made at first had not been wise but he disagreed with Mr. Bells state- ment that he did not wish to em- barrass anyone by asking the names ot the people who borrowed. Hon. Mr. Matheson said that anybody who borrowed money from the Government "should have his name published in the press. or at least in this House" and said the Op- position should not be "chicken hearted" about it. Mr. Frank Myers. First Queens. thought the Attorney General ”had let the cat out of the bag" when he said that 572,000 had been spent on roads in his district. Mr. Myers drew the attention of the -House to the fact that First Queen's had 266 miles of unimproved roads. I The legislators had a heavy sche- idule getting the estimates through. .When the lunch time recess came Premier Jones announced that itime was short as his Honour Lieutenant Governor T. W. L. Prowse would attend at 4 p.m. For that reason he said that the re- cess would be of only 45 minutes.
