You can help on this good work by sending in con- tri utions of flowers, fruit, delicacies, or good reading matter. oilieeninn Acorpent at Sr. Perer’s IshAnp.—On Saturday afternoon Wellington Houston, the seven-year-old son of the Jate Mr. Wm. Houston, met with a serious ac- cident at St. Peter’s Island. He was atanding on the landing stage of the Port- land Packing Co., with two other persons when thestructure collapsed. The three fell a distance of over ten feet to the rocky shore. The voung led was badly bruised and received painful injuries. Mr Watson, of the Natural History Society, examined the boy, and it was decidea to convey him to Charlottetown by the Southport. This was (lone and Dr Jenkins sent for. He fouod the boy’s right leg broken above the ankle. The little fellow bore the pain bravely and is now doiag well. He will remain in Charlottetown till able to return home. ATHLETES Tratyinc Haras.— Word comes that the athletes from outside of Charlottetown, from Pownal, Mortagae, Georgetown and other places, are training just as hard as their rivals io the city, and we are safe in saying that they will have to be reckoned with in every event on the list. Island. _————_— Naturat History ano ANTIQUABIAN Sqciery —Certain members of this society w th a uunber of friende visited St. Peters Island on Saturday for their anoual out- in. The party was conveyed to the Is- laod by the steamer Southport. The day was spent on the shore and in the fields and wcod. A number of fossil plants, shelle, plants, and other specimens were collected, and the day was made memor-~ able by tbe discovery of the second epeci ren of fossilised animal remains ever foucd inthis province. It is considered by those of the society competeat to ex- press an opinion upon the matter to be the caudal vertebrae of an ancient Saurian. The specimen will bea most interesting and veluable addition to tae collection of the -ociety, which, we trast, will soon be de- posited for public instruction in suitable quarters which shouid be provided by the Government as hax been done in the sis ter provinces. The party returning reached Charlottetown at six o’clcck, after what was unanimously declared to be a pleasant and profitabie day.
