MINISTERS LACKING The Committee's report stressed the present shortage of ministers not only in this Presbytery. but i” oughout the Church. it noted that 067 United Church families in the Presbytery are presently without the services of a regular- ly settled ordained minister. A strong plea was made for careful consideration oi the over-all problems. and members oi the Court were urged to support to the fullest the work of the Boundaries Committee as it worlu toward possible implementation oi the recommardations. The report stated. in part. that "we must lrankly'iaca the pros- pect that many. . . families are going to be without a regularly settled ordained minister unless we take some steps-even drastic steps. perhaps.-to work out a plan oi rearrangement and amal- gamation. . . " The report also stressed that the recommended changes would result in all families oi the church being served as well or better than at the present time. and that many charges would. under the recommendations. the greatly strengthened. it was also inted out that considerable savings could be effected through lessen- ing oi grants from the Board of Home Mission-e saving esti- Revision And "Reduction Of U.C. Pastoral Charges Advised mated by the Committee to be about 310.000. RECOMMENDATIONS included in the report are the following recommendations. The Lot 16 and Wellington charges to be joined into one. Malpequa and Margate were asked to consider the formation of one larger clrarge. Recommendations in the area from St. Peter's to Wlnslos would result in one less charle being in existence. The Dundas charge was recom- mended to be a part of a three point charge comprising the pres- ent Dundas charge and the con- gregation of Georgetown. The Sturgeon and Miiltown Cross con- gregations of the Georgetown charge were recommended to be joined to the Montague and Valley- field charges. respectively. Ree- ommendationa involving Corn- wall. Hampton, and Tryon charges would. if implemented. result in one less pastoral charge. The Committee. as well as a number oi the Court, stressed the fact that all recommendations of the Survey Committee must be approved by the congregations involved before they can be pl! into effect. Closing Meeting Y's Men's Club The final meeting of the Alpha Y's Men's Club for the current season was held in the Y.M.C.A. last evening with the president. Roy smallman. presiding.
