Uut of those val- unable lots, Mr. Longworth intended to ex- hibit a few of his most improved ewe and ram lambs at the S¢. John Lxhibition. But be- cause of the ravages of those vicious dogs al- lowed to roam at large without their owners, he will ouly be able to exhibit a portion of his selected stock either at the Island b/xbibition or at St. John. ‘Three Shropshire lambs were killed, and four of his most valuable »hrop- shire aud Leicester ewes, and, four lambs are se maimed and injured that should any of them recover, which is very doubtful, they will not be in fit condition fer Exhibition pur- ses. Che list of prizes awarded to Mr. Veaqee th at former Exhibitions amounting from $60.00 to $105.00 at each Exhibition, will show the loss he must have sustained bs the dest: uction to his splendid flock of sheep by those savage dogs, whose owners should be he heid responsibie for iosses such as Mr. Longworth has sustained. A stringent law should be passed bearing on this subject suci as in Newfoundland and other places. 58q., Tue Hiection Campaian.—The North River meeting last evening was held in the Baptist church. Their grain, especially black and white oats, is excellent. In fact ali the Island exhibits are very commendable, and i deserving of special mention. Sin,--We note in your paper @ slur on Souris, as regards our hall. 1 was staying i Charlottetown a week or so ago, and visited the Academy of Music, which 1s really a cred itable attempt, but for which I do not think your citizens should take much credit, inas- much as it is private enterprise, and you leave it to stravgers, comparatively, to pat- ronize it—at Jeast, that is my opinion, after going there three or four times. New, don’t you think it 1s better te have a bad hall, and fillit—as we do here. That is the way Fair. bairn, Lindly and ethers would think. I know for certain, that unless Charlottetown back any entertainment, they don't go. We know our hall is bad; but we purpese build- inga new one or arranging eur present one,and are pleased to state that proceedings are on hand to commence at once, which I hope Mr. Lindley will open.
