An Islander Drowned. Port Hawkesbury, C. B., June 2. Yesterday afternoon a man’s body was found in the harbor by twe boys and taken ashore, where it was identified as that of Jeffrey Meclsaac. He was last fall dis- charged here from the schr. Lilla Linwood, ind provided with a railroad ticket to Gloucester, which was found in his pocket long with a baggage check. The captain he got drunk and fell over the wharf dur- ing the night. An inquest was held and he was buried to-day. He isa native of P. E, Island, but his family are now in the States. Gladstone's Denial. Lonpon, June 2. Gladstone denies that he ever stated the} shooting affair at Mitchelltown, Ireland, and the Siberian outrages were parallel outrages, he says he spoke of them to- gether, but did not desire the inference to be drawn that he regarded the Mitchell- town affair equally as bad as the outrages perpetrated by Russian officials in Siberia.
