Fitzgerald read a paper on **Christian Missions to the Heathen.” Mr. Fitzgerald referred to the state of the Gentile world when Christ was born, the authority for missions, the earliest missionaries, the motive power for iaissionary work, the lapse of time before any systematic effort to convert the Heathen was made, the circumstances which led to the formation of the first Chris- tian Missionarry Society, the state of the world at the time, how the missionary story was received, the inadequacy of the means oe the magnitude of the work, and the work yet to be performed, etc., the whole forming a very interesting discourse.
