AT NIGHT SCHOOLS
LONDON, April 8_-One of the
principal features of the new Educa-
tion Blll to be introduced during the
present session of Parliament, it is un-
derstood, will be the establishment
by lor-al authorities of evening
schools throughout the country and
the compulsory attendance of chil
dren under sixteen years of age. The
school age for the present day
schools will be raised to fourteen
years, so that for two years after
leaving day school children will have
the advantage of lessons in the even-
ing. _
To meet the objection that boys
and girls at work during the day
would be too tired to attend evening
schools, the bill will limit the em-
ployment of young persons to pro-
bably 36 hours a week.
