THE WEAVER ‘QUNTING OUT IN MAINE yp eget FE COMING BILL-—THE GRANT BOOM AND TH PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. — | ? But the more conser ative of them, | rery sensibly remark that as the Demo- | crats as well as the Republicans on = Bench there thus decide, if suows the loy-| of their party in general, | alty and honesty of t although some ambitieus eS resort to metheds that are indefensi ce There is stil!, however, a suspicion that the state officers in Maine will not submit to this decision, and will urge the counted In and proceed candidates to take their seats embers of 1t may | to oryanize the State Government. 5o many counted in members, however, are t the face of declining their certificates in the Supreme Court's opinion course will barely be possible. The Demagogues of both parties may be induced to suppert the Weaver bill, so called because it is the invention of Weaver of Iowa, to pay from the United States Treasury to the pensioners the diilerence between greenbacks and gold in years past, but the tax-payers should be warned against this dangerous measure. It would take more than a thousand millions from the treasury, and no reasonable soldier will demand such a sacrifice. Some of the Greenback members, who wish to make political capital for their warring party are circulating petitions throughout the country in favor ef this bill, but the movement ought to be stopped by the criticism? of the press« The aunouncement that General Grant is, and has been, laboring to promote his nomination for a third term, has aroused the friends of other candidates to activity. Those of Mr. Blaine and Mr. Sherman will, in particular, from this time forth, make a lively canvass, Mr. Bisine’s friends taking special pins to present anew the remark- able capacity of their candidate as a poli- tical leader and statesman, as exhibited in his manigement of the now noteworthy Maine contest. The preliminary canvass in New York, Pennsylvania, Olio and Indiana will be remarkably interesting. and the State Conventions will be held at an early day. The ‘Tillen men are in the field now earnestly, since the announcement that their candidate will once more claim the nomination. So many other booms have been started against him recently that they hope to yain from his fees. Tilden will make a strong pull for suc- cess. that this Tne (iovernment purpose to immediately commence the Shannen drainage, and 500 menu wil) be daily employed. ‘lhe main oper- ations will be carried on in King’s County, and the amount expended on the works will be about $20,090. ° MARRIZD. Constitutional Catarrh Remedy CURES CATARREH. Hear what a Reverend Gentleman says of the Constitutional Rewedy. T. J. B. Harvie, Esq., Brockville, Ont.:— Dear Srr—It is now two years since your “Constitutional Catarrh Remedy’ was introe- duced to me. jf have waited this ong toe see if the cure would remain permanent before do- ing this, my duty, to you, as at first the happy eflects seemed to me to be ‘‘too good to be true.” 1 was afflicted in my head for yeary before I] suspected it to be Catarrh. In reading in your Circular | saw my case described in many par ticulars. ‘The inward ‘drop’ from the head had become very disagreeable, and a choking sensation often preventing me from lying long, I would feel like smothering and be compelled to sit upin the bed. My health and spirits were seriously affected. When your agent came to Walkertownin August, 1876, I secured three bottles. Before | had used a quarter of the contents of one bottle i found decided re- lief, and when J had used two bottles and a third, I quit taking it, feeling quite clear of that ailment, and have not used any since until of late I have taken some for a cold in my head, A sense of duty to sufferers from that loath- some disease, Catarrh, p.ompts me to send you this Certificate, unsolicited, with leave to make what use of it yon may see proper Yours truly, W. TINDALL, Methodist Minister. Port Eigin, Ont., Aug. 24, 1878. Ask for Littlefield’s Constitutional Catarrh Remedy and take no other. T. J. B. Harprxe, Dominion Agent, Brock- ville, Ont.
