__ page 4 -- Going .. going By Carolyn Ryan Summer days, ah summer days. I could rhapsodize about beaches and balmy weather and blossoms and so on until one of us is heartily sick. So I won’t. Instead, I’ll play the con- science and remind you of other things that happen in summer. Tuition fees get raised. A new President is chosen for Hiring unfair Dear Editor: No wonder nobody wants UPEI. The University some- times chooses to do unplea- sant things it could never manage with 1700 witnesses. Students can’t do anything about summer education horrors, of course — or can they? Your SU executives will be around. You can do one of two things. You can trust them. Or, you can tell them what you want. Have a nice summer. to volunteer for student organizations. I have een involved at UPEI for 6 years, in CIMN for 5 yearspand have held two paid positions, as well as having served on three Orientation Committees and participated in many other student activities. Now the Student Union has said that I am not ex- perienced enough to apply for CIMN manager, Opera- tions Director (even though I have held the position before) and Orientation Committee Chairman. After all these years of dedication, the Hiring Board tells me that I am not ex- perienced for the positions and will not interview me for the positions listed above. If this is the way the Student Union pays back years of hard work, I hope they are willing to do a lot of work without any help from volunteers.
