In search of the green By Inge Dorsey Well, well it is hard to believe that yet another academic year has escaped us. This being my last column I feel almost compelled to detail the highlights of the year for financial aid. But seeing as I only have very few lines I’ll leave that for another time. Seriously though folks, 1 do have a few pearls of wisdom con- cerning financial aid. First, 1 would AGAIN advise people to begin their search for the green early (that is before you are flat broke). Also, I am available to either let you know or find out for The Human Agony in Ethiopia By Sam Okello In the past three decades many Ethiopians looked confidently to an independent future of economic growth and social development. But today millions of people in Ethiopia are suffering a succes- sion of crippling blows due to starvation which has been caused bya prolonged drought. As a result many Ethiopians are hungry and broke: They are sick and tired, humiliated and divided. As many as 100,000 Ethiopians are fleeing to a neighbouring country, Somalia. One critic men- tioned that Ethiopia may be near- ing the point of collapse under a cruel combination of famine, drought, debt, chronic mis- management and runaway pop- ulation growth. Many Ethiopians face a potential human environ- mental and economic castastrophe of unimaginable dimensions. Ethiopians themselves seem al- most impotent in the face of im- pending disaster. Faced by immi- nent starvation, Ethiopians are uncertainly bound to cope with a crisis that has been intensifying since the mid 1970's. In order to save millions of drought victims, Ethiopia des- perately needs help in areas such as food, money, technology and time to recover.
