Last night John Johnson, notorious as

Richard Collins, who was confined in
Queen’s Countyfiail, awaiting trial in the
Supreme Court for two cases of assault,
climbed the fence and escaped._ If
Richard’s case was the drst it would b
excusable, but it is apparently a common
occui-ence that when a. prisoner charged
with a serious offence has been confined
in the jail, he manages to escape.
It is said that the fence was damaged by
the late storm and the prisoner took ad-
vantage of it when Jailor McNeill was
dispensing medicine for aprisoner who
