Mr. Davies let the cat out of the bag in this matter. The papers submitted by Mr. Ferguson at Mount Stewart were those we publish this morning in that gentleman’s speech of last night. McDona.p, son of Mr. Wm. McDonald, Panmure Island, who has so credit- ably taken off the highest honors of his class in McGill University, was not a third year man, as the Patriot states. Mr. McDonald did attend McGill with the intention of pur- suing his second year’s course, but, being taken scriously ill with typhoid fever, he was unable to follow his class for that year, and consequently returned home to the Island whenever he had sufficiently recovered. That shows that Mr. McDonald has only really fin- ished his second term at the University, taking the highest honors from third year men.
