This committee also functions as the sick and visiting committee. The ‘club which embraces the territory of Union School District has accomplished some very worthwhile projects since its for- maticn 20 years ago. One of the most notable of these was their participation in the Rural Beauti- fication Sclzool Contest and in i947 their school won fourth place. Another worthwhile and much needed improvement to the school by the club was the installation of a pump and sink. which has prov- ed a most valuable asset as hot lunches are served each day to the pupils who remain at noon. While the major efforts of the club have been directed towards the improvement of their school. it has also taken an active part in many other community enter- prises. Each Christmas the club llas remembered the "shut-ins" in s substantial manner, and this gracious act has been highly ap- preciated by the recipients of such kindness. Also during the last World War the club contributed generously of its time and resources in helping to comfort and brighten the lot of our bravo boys vilio were serving their country overseas. The club at present is still making up "boxes" for overseas and contri- buting materially to t.he United Emergency Fund for Britain. Just the past Christmas a large well- stocked box was sent overseas. The club's aims are to render com- munity service. of any nature, that is deemed necessary.
