Mr. es sedonald, the regular nominee of the Conservative party was elected by a major- ity of five hundred and sixty-one over his opponent, who loses his deposit. ANOTHER ACCOUNT. Hatirax, N. S., Nov. 21. The total vote polled in Victoria County was 1360. Of this John A. McDonald (Ministeralist) received 925 and Charles J. Campbell, 425. Campbell thus loses his deposit. McDonald's majority was unex- pectedly large. ae The Fishery Commission. ee WASHINGTON, Nov. 21, The fisheries commission held its first meeting to-day at the State Departinents. Being an informal conference it lasted less than an hour. The meeting was held only to arrange a line of procedure. It was resolved that the first meeting be held tomorrow. Stenographers will not be employed, but an outline report of the proceedings will be kept by the Secretaries, and at the end of every session al] members will sign a formal statement of the result of theday’swork.
