It was I ylmarlly instituted for the training of young men for the ministry. In Nova Sgctia the Baptists were tabooed so to gpeak. There was an Institute at Widneor but no one could go there with- out subscribing to the tenets of the Church of England. To obiviate this difhculty Horton Academy was insti- tuted. It now furnishes three coursesi the scientiilc, the business course and the Manual Training couise. Some claims that only such subjects as tend to de~ velop alone the lines of culture should :be taught, others claim that only the useful cnly those subjects which ilt a boy for earning his bread and butter should re- ceive attention.
