B., Before the sun set on the 20th June, 1877, a large part of the city had disappeared, 15,000 of its inhabitants were without homes, $27,000.000 worth of property had been destroyed, about 3@ per- sens had been burned to death, the city was without food for its inhabitants, its wharves were ruined, and a majority of its people had been so smitten by the calamity that practically they had to begin life over again. finan dhiniannene Oweex Sevare Scnoor.—The teachers of Queen Square School, after a full con- sideration of prize giving at the close of the school year, have come .to the con- clusion that it would be better, for this year at least, that no prizes be given. One witness was examined, but nothing important was brought out and the case was further ad- jowrned xyitil the 25th inst. Artemas Carr vs. Joseph Reid—This was an alleged assauiton the 25th of April. Reid is a clerk in the firm of N. B. & M. Ratte-n bury, and Carr at that time was a truck- wan also in theiremploy. Four witnesses were examined. Reid took hold of Carr in a friendly scuffle, he stated, and during the scuttle Carr fell on the floor striking his head and injuring his spinal column. Carr has been unable to attend to his work since, aml said Reid was in an aigry mood whén he took hold of him. The case-was adjoarned until June 25th.
