     Joyce Bernard noticed the above Northern Shrike as she looked out her 
     
     north window to check the feeders. The only bird there was the shrike . 
     
     and Joyce saw that it had killed a sparrow and was feeding on it. After 
     
     about an hour, the shrike was frightened by an approaching vehicle and 
     
     flew off, taking the sparrow with it. The shrike was followed into the 
     
     spruce hedge by a crow, and the meal came to an end! When she wrote, 
     
     Joyce said the feeder had been unused for 1% days after the incident and 
     
     was hoping it wouldn't last too long. '
