The Island Physical Fitness Bas- ketball League will get underway here at the Prince of Wales Col- lege Auditorium next Wednesday night, November 30th, it was de- cided last night during the annual meeting of the League held at the Travel Bureau. The opening of the schedule will be a double- header event with Saint Dunstan! University meeting Ray's Million- aires in the first game while Sum- merside Schurmans meet Army (Reece) in the second encounter. Lt.-Col. W. J. MacDonald, who presided over the meeting, was re-eleeted President of the League while Norman MacDonald of Summcrside and Walter LePage of the City were also re-elected as Vice-President and Secretary re- spectively. The executive, which is composed of a representative from each team, is as follows: - Joe Cullen (Army), Maurice Good- win (Ray's Millionaires), Charles Linkletter (S'Side Schurmans). D. E, “Moose" Carson (R.C.A.F.).Reg. Doueette (S.D.U.) and Edwin Kelly (P.W.C.). During the meeting, which was n highly enthusiastic one and well represented by the various clubs. I six-team league was developed again this year and will include four team entries from the City of Ray's Millionaires. Six-Team Basketball League Organized; First Games Scheduled Nov. 30 to carry on the League in two sec- tions, with a Charlottetown divis- ion and a Summerside ditgision, in order to cut down travelling and expenses, with the winners of both sections meeting in the fin- als, it was decided however to operate as one League when the Summerside representatives point- ed out that it would be out of the question to floor more than two teams in that centre which would make a poor set-up for a division there. Other decisions arrived at dur- ing the meeting included a mo- tion to the effect that “no teams will participitate in a regular League game unless there is an official referee and linesmen pre- sent to take charge of the game." lt was also decided that each team will appoint two linesmen to officiate with the referee dur- in-g scheduled games and that L! possible, permanent referees will be appointed to officiate during the season, and otherwise, the home team will be responsible for providing the referees and lines- men.
