Supper Marks Opening Of Church ilail A supper on Tuesday evening marked the opening of the new Montague United Church Hall with approximately three hundred and sixty sitting down to the heavily laden tables. A strong representation of Trin- ity Church in Charlottetown was welcomed on the special occasion. and the builder of the hall, Mr. D. M. MacDonald was commended very highly on the beauty and utility Of the new structure. Following the supper a meeting of the Men's Club was held dur- ing which a presentation of a beau- tiful table lamp was made to Mr. and Mrs. Malcol-m Patterson who are moving to Charlottetown. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Lorne Wigginton. and appreciation was expressed of the varied ser- vices rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Patterson in the several depart- ments of the Church, and particu- larly in the choir and church school. ”We will not soon forget the friendliness and helpfulness of this young couple." he said. ”but we will rejoice in Mr. Patterson's promotion, even though we shall miss them." King's County Fish And Game Meeting Held A regular meeting of the King's County Fish and Game Association was held inst, night. in the Legion Hall in Montague with the president, Mr. Cyril Johnston. presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary and approved. It was recommended by the local branch that the season on cock pheasants be made to coin- cide with that of the Hun sea- SO71. The-. following resolution was approved: "Whcrrar non-Maritime resi- dents. who are hunting with dog: in large numbers. are doing in- tensive hunting of upland game. and thereby decimating the non- uiation excessively. and whereas though the number of hunters and dogs in one group the farm- ers of the Island are being an- tagonized. and may eventually not permit anyone to shoot, on their property, and where through such numbers in one nroup al- most: all the covey is banned. be it resolved that the license fee for non-Maritime residents hunt- lng with dogs be raised to 5100.00? Considerable discussion follow- ed. respecting enclosed property under the Fish and Game Act. and the meeting went. on record as condemning the practice of those owning such enclosed pro- perty charging a fee to shoot thereon. It was resolvrd that such enclosed property be con- sidered n sanctuary with no ZINC permitted to fish or hunt there- on. Some information was present- ed with respect to the wild rice seeding of fresh water ponds in King's County. and it was pro- posed that further information should be acquired. andthat each director be contacted to supply information on ponds in his dis- trict so that should the matter become determined. ponds could then be selected for seeding pur- poses. The service closed by singing hymn. "Take Time To Be Holy." A short business meeting was presided over by Miss Millie Lake. Boxes of Christmas cards were distributed to the girls to be sold before December 14th meeting. Further plans were made for the rally to be held in the church hall Dec. 2nd.
