The proposal generally \vas approved of, and~it was un- animously agreetl that this special effort should bc made to augment the Patriotic Fund, which it must be understood is not to iliterfere with the ordinary subscriptioiis 'and collections. The proposal adopted is that every storekeeper, enlployer of labour aild pro- fessional man should be asked to make a special con- tribution to the Fund on February 29, alid tllat every employee should be asked to give a day’s wage. Mr C. R. Siiiallwood, wllo \vas appointed secretary of the meeting, was asked to bring the matter to the notice of the .\layor of every incorporated town and the leading residents in other districts. It is hoped by this nleaiis united action will be taken, and that as the result of the effort a very considerable addition will be made to the niost deserving fund now before the public. Subscriptions should be sent direct to Mr Biiiniiig, lion.
