Years ago the morning visit of the school inspector was looked upon as one of the rirradcd events of the year by teachers and pupils alike, how- ever that has all been changed during the passing years until to- day the visit of the supervisor is hailed as one of the moat pleas- -anut happenings of the school year. Many have added their hit to bring about this agreeable change but no one more than has Gordon Rice. The Dlstnict of Savage Harbour suffered a keen loss recently when Mrs. Fulton Pigott and her daugh- ter Miss Hattie Pigott moved from here to take up residence in Char- lottetown. The Pigot.t's. life-long residents of the Harbour. were among its most respected citizens and the role which Mia Pigctt took in the general activities. of the Community will be one that will indeed be difficult to an. A delicious lunch was served by the ladies of the Women's institute under whose auspices the tournament is being staged. Proceeds in general are to be used for school purposes. The regular monthly meeting of the teachers' study group was held in St. Peters Lake School on Wed- nesday. November 25th. under the direction' of Supervisor Gordon Rice. After some individual prob- lems had been solved the meeting took up the subject of "Readiness for Promotion". All teachers took an active part. in the discussion with the result that this time was the most siiccessfiil meeting to date At the completion of the dis- cusslon the following points had been agreed upon by all present: Promotion should be made if at all possible; if repetition be necessary then it should be done in junior grades: size and age of pupils should be given some consideration: the present Grade VIII examin- ations should be aboliehsd. But the Department could provide a "guiding test" for all grades avail- able to any teacher who might re- quest them.
