So far in their first three games the girls have out scored their opponents149-0. With victories of 26-0 and 44-0. This year the girls are pissed. They have been stripped of ‘Women's Rugby their varsity status due to financial difficulties from the athletic depart- - ment at UPEI and are looking for some recognition. If you are look- ing for exciting, offensive rugby, these girls have got it. I personally made it to the panthers game against St. Thomas on the weekend and I have never seen so many yellow jersey's lay- ing motionless on a field in my life. The wave of green was too much for the Tommies to handle as they had a different girl go down ‘with a different injury literally every five minutes. It would seem by halftime that St. Thomas didn't even want to touch the ball because they knew they were going to be run over by powerhouses such as Michelle Young, and Shelly MacNeill. St. Thomas was unable to even possess the ball for more than two minutes in the UPEI end of the field, let alone press for any sort of score. The girls will look to keep their momentum running into the weekend and are looking for all the support they can get. Get out and watch these girls run over their opponents. -:page [17] September 29 2003:.
