He has also taken an active and foremost part in all matters of educational lnterest_and for the past year was President of the Teacher's Association. His appointment, judged by the required standard of qualifica- tions, is a most commendable one, and will meet with the approval of all who are interested in matters educational. VISIT TO CANDLING STATION.- Yesterday afternoon the City Teach- ers' Class, which meets twice a week in the Rural Science Department of' Prince of Wales College, visited the Central Egg Candling Station, where they were shown through by the oblig- ing manager. Mr. Lightizer, who de- monstrated the candllng process, ex- plained how eggs were graded into selects, number ones, number twos, etc. He also explained to them how the business is carried on in the local. egg circles, how each patron’s eggs ure kept track of in the handling and liow returns are made to each in ac- cordance with quality. He gave the teachers an excellent idea of the growth of the egg circles and the need of co-operation for further growth, making it very clear to them that the poultry business of the province has great possibilities. A no less interest- ing feature was the visit to one of the upper rooms of the building, where Mr. Lightizer is conductingh experi~ ments in poultry fattening. T ere- are in this department about, 100 fowls which are being experimented upon with a view to ascertaining the most ting them for market.
