B., Aug. ll.-The liext development in the case of seven bank notes located here and, suspect/ed to be part of the ransom money paid futily by Col Charles A. Lindbergh is expected to come from Ottawa or United States, authori- ties. Reticence on the part of of- ficials and erroneous reports have confused the situation. The only definite information available to- night wus: Miss Carrie Anderson, a nurse of Ilnmpton, Va., drew $190.00 from a bank at Hampton, came to Albert :for a vacation with .her sister, re- siding here, and deposited the mon- cy in the local branch of the Bank of Nova. Scotia. Bank officials ex- amined the currency and commun- icated with the Royal Canadian Motulted Police. The R. C. M. P. wilcd their infomation to head- quarters at Ottawa, which refus- ed to make a statement. ` The money paid to the Lindbergh kidnappers consisted of $20, $10, and $5 bills, and the seven notes deposited here included these three denominations. Examination at Halifax of a list of serial numbers established them as those on the seven bills but allowed they did not correspond _with the ransom money. No infor- mation could be secured regarding the plate letters. , Miss Anderson has not been ap- proached by the police and first learned of the case when interview- ed by newspapermcn. She said her only knowledge of the bills was that she had received them from the manager of the bank at, Hampton' Hampton bank oilicials said they had no particular knowledge of the. bills, Miss Anderson said she ob-2 tained there. The President of the bank knew Miss Anderson, who has been supervisor of the Elizabeth City County Visiting Nurses' As- sociation for 16 years. Another of- ficial remarked that it was imposs- ,y :ble for u bank ui keep an accur- ate check on all bills it handled. 1 The situation has aroused little. lf any comment in this village.
