Chief Arsenault brought up the matter of raising funds for the Mayor Wedge community rink fund and the firemen went on record as being in favor of sup- porting the community project and that plans would be made soon to raise money for this pur- pose. A few Howlan farmers have now finished planting the lowly spud and are preparing the land for the sowing of grain. A new cement foundation will be put in and a new spire and vestibule am also to be erected with Frank Gai- lant of Howlan as head of the job. Ltd. regarding the extension of rural electric current to Tignish and vicinity. The five other mem- bers of the committee are Hon. .1. A.' Bernard, John Myrlck. Wal- ter Bernard, John Myrick. Jr., and Hubert J. Gaudet. The Maritime Electric Company is at present extending rural else- triflcation to Tyne Valley and Elieislie. and expects to have the work completed this fall. It is understood. Mr. Sumner says, that the matter of running' this rural service from 0'Leary through Al- bertcn and then on to Tignish will come up before the Commis- sion and the power company early next year for consideration. In the meantime prospective electricity users in and around Tignish are asked to signify theii intentions of using the power in writing, so that the commission and the power company will have ll. better picture of the electric need in that locality. A meeting of the Freetown branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held on Tuesday evening. May 27 at tho home of Mrs. John Lewis with the president, Mrs. Wallace Reeves presiding. Two new members were enrolled. After the business of the meeting and the programme were concluded lunch was served by the hostess.
