Nehru Unde Section: Of LONDON iAP.)-Prlmt. ..umsler Nehru is aevarely cittclsed today by some sections of the British press for his stand on the "peace- ful invasion" of Purtugues Gas by Indian demonstrawu. The language is the strongest and against a leader of a Com- monwealth nation since attacks on South African Premier Johannes Strlidon for his racial policies. The Daily Mail likens some Nehru lpeeclies on Goa to Hitler's proclamations. The paper refers a previous Nehru statement that Goa was an "ugly pimple" on the Indian sub- continent and that "if anyone says that we should continue to toier-' ate this pimple. then he has not un- derstood our mind and heart. nor that of Asia." - To this Nehru statement, the Mail says "such inflammatory sentimcnts are familiar. The use of the word 'tolerate.' The veiled racial threat. It is pure Hitler." Because the Portuguese police de- fended themselves in Goa. The Mail contends. Nehru called "Mm "brutal and unclviilzed."
