He witnessed the struggle of the early settlers of this Island and many and varied were the incidents he could relate not only of his native land but of this Island as well. He successful- ly overcame all difilculties and suc- ceeded in building up a comfortable resting place, which show the esteem ,habitation for himself being one of the An humble and unassuming cltlzon. an ohllglug neighbor, a klnd and affection- ate husband and father. ho won the esteem of ull with whom he became acquainted.
