' ’ : | | | D.STHWART. DIED At Murray Harbor Scuth, Jan. 153th, Edoa Muriel, dearly beloved and only daughter cf Alexander D., and Jane McDonald, aged six yearsand six months, - Doctors now agree that consumption is curable. Three things, if taken to-, gether, will cure nearly every case in the first stages; the majority of cases more ad-| vanced; anda few of those far advanced. The first is, fresh air; the se- cond, proper food; the third, Scott s Emulsion of cod-liver oil with hypophosphites. To be cured, you must not lose in weight, and, if thin, you must gain. Nothing equals Scott's Emulsion to keep you in good flesh. coc. and $1.0ca,.all druggists. : sy - SCOTT & BOWNE, Chemists Toronto, STOCK-TAKING SALE OF OAPS a : + .. £ « ’ We find that our stock or S7aps iz too large-some or the wrap : *. 2. £e. athe pers and boxes are SOLleG, 1 ether the cakes themse.ves are | Cases , “fy soiled and chipp« Sq Qut They G0 scm. } } y ely 2c} : , verv rw The Vy markeG aown very iOy them at half price, are ome ol : p }o23 | ‘rd off—but all -~ others at one thi at big reducticns. iOANSON & JOHNSON JOHNS ON THE DRI GGISTS e «ohm pent Ke Ye awe St GGA SS IS Ss c&> —* ae => pen cD Cail ise : WU Na ME 5 Ts usas On account of the Epidemic among, family pets, we have placed the above book on our counters.— Advice free te all Hh 4 Opposite v, O. ’ i collar SP GAGE BP FS BS at the Hotel Dayies. In his interesting book, ‘‘The Law- yers of Maine,’’ Willis relates an anec- dote of Jndge Georg Soliciter Davis and Judge Thatcher, when boys, were neighbors in Barnsta- ble and Yarmouth, Mass. The day after | the battle of Bunker Hill the militia of these towns set off for Boston. The boys aecompanied the soldiers, Davis acting as fifer. A few miles out from Larnstable an order came diracting the niilitary to return home, In their retreat Thatcher and Davis, . al y Sos narct u ited ar ; : : : ; : # tired of their march, mounted an old | jin), past slluvial gold in an appreciable horse they met on the road, without } saddie or bridle. After riding some miles they dismounted and abandoned their steed in the highway. Many years after Davis, as solicitor general, was prosecuting a horse this before Judge Thatcher in the county of Kennebec, In the course of the trial the judge leaned over the bench if L hofor: and § itor: **Davy, you and | this reminds me of the stole in Barnstable.” as . —_— “ TAKE NOTICE. For tHe HoserraL.—The concert and batket social in the Lyceum last evening was well attended, and every one had a good time. The interesting programme of vocal and instrumental music prepared forthe occasion was rendered inan €X- cellent manner, and to the evident satis- faction of the large assemblage. The sale of baskets was condrcted by Mr K H Norton, and good prices were obtained. The affair was in aid of the Charlotte- town Hospital, and the amount realized was about $150. The promoters are to be congratulated. Tue STantey.— The steamer Stanley arrived at Georgetown from Pictou yesterday afternoon about four o’clock, and about six in the evening, in pursuance of ineteuctions from the Marine Depart- ment jeft in search of four fishermen who | are missing from Bonaventure Island, Quebec. It seems that these men were on the ice at the shore on Bonaventure Island when the ice separated and drifted with its living freight. The Staoley returned to Georgetown this after noon, not being able to make her way through heavy ice between East Point aud the Cape Breton shore.
