IL .\l_\\`_\(il‘].\I|°].\"|`. _ In connection with the recent visit of the railway management, the Premier met these gentlemen on their arrival in Summerside Saturda_\_' evening and discussed with them matters of interest to the province. On lVlon- day morning he accompanied them to Charlottetown __ _ Guardian Readers and had a long interview with Mr. Green of the Indus- trial Research Department. Mr. Green -is greatly inter- ested in the 'history of the province, its development and resources in agriculture and fishing; so much so that he asked the Premier to supply him with all availablestat- istics bearing on these matters. Mr. Green also had a long interview with the Commissioner of Agriculture ‘with reference to the same subjects. He has become greatly interested in this province, and was very loud in its praises. He has in mind a certain paying industry which could be pi'oiitabl_\' started here, and has cabled to England for the Canadian rights, and if he succeeds in securing these will endeavor to have the industry estab- lished in this province._ It is a matter of common knowledge that Mr. Hayes and Mr. Melanson are very warm friendsof this pro- vince, and if everything that is required here is_ not done the' fault"caniio't` b`e"'ascribed to them. ' 'At Mr. Hayes' request, the Premier prepared mem- oranda bearing upon different matters, more especially the need of a second car ferry and continuation _of the Widening of the railway guage and other matters. On his return, Mr. Hayes will discuss these with .\'ir_ Hanna. 'The whole party were delighted with the province. Mr. Stevens, the Freight Traffic Manager, who has re- ‘_‘iam‘ed the Island “The Front Garden of Canada," said he had lived in every province in Canada, and in his es- timation none of them could compare with Prince Ed- ward Island. It is his intention hereafter to spend his holidays in this province. Mr. Ray F. Clark, General Agent of the Canadian Railways, in the United States, and who resides in Chic_- ago, Mr. Af T. Weldon, Assistant' Freight Traffic Man- ager at Moncton, Mr. Guy Tombs, Assistant -Freight Traffic Manager' at Montreal, were all equally delighted. The result of the visit of these gentlemen will be that Prince Edward Island will receive much favorable advertising abroad, and we may feel assured that they will take the earliest opportunity to revisit the province. The thanks of the citizens are due the Premier and all the others in Summerside and Charlottetown, who assisted in entertaining these visitors during their stay in the province, and it is to be hoped that Mr. Hanna and hisco-directors will be able to visit us during the present summer. Such a visit was contemplated when they re- cently came to Nova Scotia, but unfortunately, owing to railway troubles in the West, Mr. Hanna was obliged to _\-"_' _~l| .liz l i ihc l,t-gislniive i‘liniiilu-i- iliiip~. |iiosil_v ili~- |'.'ili l§i‘igi\l_li_- il'oui_ liriiiii- slioil, ilu- i.\ili |l_illi`\,~lii_ui. iiiiili-i' roiii luiiiul iii' i'ol >‘-iuiiu-iis. `_".` ollir i-i‘,~= .iiii r'_l|rn|ehed by W.
