Ouicers of the company were unable to state their exact loss. The building was 120 feet long, fifty feet wide and 100 feet high. The elevator contained much grain. The detonation was heard several miles. Tons of grain and parts ot the wrecked structure were thrown high in the air. Jan. 25-The Cape Breton Electric Co. are about to purchase an ice-breaking steamboat for use in the ferry service between Sydney and .North Sydney. i Captain John Muggab, Supt. of the company's ferry service, has gone to the Canadian Boo for the purpose of securing a. boat for the winter ser- vice. The vessel which `the company has in view is 3 steel steamer, a lit- tle longer and of greater beam than the ferry steamer Pawnee, and she will draw several feet more water. The new boat cannot be brought to Sydney before 'navigation opens in the spring, but it is just possible that she will arrivc before the her- hor is cleared of the drift ice, and by her aid, the ferry service between the two ports will be resumed earlier than under present conditions.
