Frontier College, a national non-profit literacy organization, is helping university and college students to set up volunteer literacy programs on campuses across Canada. The program is called Frontier College: Students for Literacy. Almost 100 years ago, students from Queen’s University travelled to the “frontier” to teach rail gangs to read and write. Today, McGill University students have taken up the challenge to go out into their community to teach adults basic literacy skills. Someday, there will be a literacy program on every campus in Canada.
