C., stated that he had recovered fees of $5,000 and $4,030 in cases on which he had been employed. Honorable Mr. Latlamme, Q. C., had re- ceived $12,000 froin the Government as fees in settling cases of land claims cen. nected with the carals. Mr. Ritchie, Q. C., had frequently received from $1,000 to $1,500 for services in which he was em- ployed ; he stated that the receipt of fees of $500 to $1,000 were of ordinary occur- rence by leading lawyers there.
