In this department. too. a healthy growth was seen. Slightly more than 70.000 had attended in 1956. Horsemen received more money. Total purses paid amounted to $111,450. the highest paid in the Moritimos. The three-times-c-week program. started in September of 1957. will be implemented in July of 1958. The Maritime Pacing Championship and the Colonel Don Pace will be made annual events. A Joe O'Brien Pace and o Maritime Trotting Championship are also in prospect for '50.
