     MAMMALS: Red squirrels were seen mating in Feb. at Rocky Point (LD). A large and healthy population of 
     
     snowshoe hares devastated white pine and hardwoods seedlings at Indian River this winter (BG). One mink was 
     
     seen at Grand River in Mont Carmel on Mar. 14 (M&BLB). Skunk tracks being seen in Mont Carmel on Mar. 5 
     
     (M&BLB) and striped skunk were seen foraging below bird feeders in early March in Donagh (JDM). Muskrats 
     
     were active in a Rocky Point marsh in Jan. & Feb. (LD). 1 red fox was reported passing trough a yard twice daily in 
     
     Jan. (GMa). A coyote was feeding close to the road on Feb. 23 (BH). Grey seals were reported in various areas 
     
     along the coast in late February as whelping ice was poor in Northumberland Strait and the bays. On Feb. 26th, 1 
     
     grey seal was seen along the side of the road in National Park at Stanhope acting quite mesmerized with people from 
     
     6 cars around it and a fox checking it out earlier (M&BLB). Thousands of Harp Seals and a few Grey Seals off 
     
     P.E.I. National Park were on the ice flows between North Rustico and Cavendish on Mar. 11 (M&BLB). White coat 
     
    
   
   
    
     _ harp seals were present along the coast ice within a 100 metres of shore at Dalvay and Stanhope on Mar. 19 with one
