CU , the reign of Alexander McDonald as Klondike King is ended, and he has again «tarted out as @ poor miner, leaving his bride in Dawson with a horde of creditors, for whose benefit all his interests, both min-~ ing and trading, have been assigned. In his formal! declaration of insolvency, filed at Dawson on July 29th, McDonald states his liabilities to be approximately six millions, while there is no way of fairly computing bis assets, as his investments are of large problematical value. Asthey will nave to be sacrificed, McDonald says there will not be enoagh to go around, al- though he believes their ultimate value will prove te be $20,000,000 at least. HussanD Beater Arrestep.— Eliza- beth Doyle, wife of Thomas Doyle, a Hal's fax liquor desler, was arrested last week on a charge of assaulting her husbsnd, She admitted that she strack him because be was continually annoying her. “ She wanted to live quietly, but she could not do so with him.” She was convicted and remanded for sentence. The wife gives her age as sixteen years. The husband is a large, powerful looking man of forty years. _-a— Fett Tarrty bskr.—A man named Wesley Wheaton. of Upper Sackville, mct with a very narrow escape fom death last Wednesday evening, Mr. Wheaton with a span of horses attached to an en- gine and boiler, used in preseing hay, was crossing whet is known as the Fork’s | bridge when the stringers broke aid horses and load fej] about 30 feet. Mr. Wheaton fortunately was walking at the time snd when the engine fel! it went from bim. Had it feli toward him he would probably have been buried beneath it and instantly killed.
