The co-op was formed by the farmers of the area north oi here as a means of helping in- crease income. “For years we have run mixed farms in the summer and worked in the bush in the winter," says co-op president Ell Samei. "But as farming be- comes more expensive we have slowly gone downhill trying to keep up with rising costs." His solution was the co-op which has taken shape under direction at district agricultural representative Ralph Poston. one problem was that while every member knew how to grow grain or vegetables or raise hogs and cattle. none knew anything about strawber- es. They sought advice and were shown how to put in plants to ‘ be ready for transplanting this spring. The converted tobacco transplanter then came Into use.
