Dur- ing the present fa.ll.he sold about 600 fat sheep for the Winnipeg market. Mr. Bertram also raises quite anumber of hoises and cattle. There is a good demand for stock of all kinds and the people of that district are endeavouring to make the supply equal. 'There are a good many Islanders located there who figure ipromioeutly among the most successful ones. Hamilton Bertram formerly of Hazel Grove, who went out there about one year ago is greatly pleased with the place and intends sending forthe family. Dan Corbett, formerly of Granville, is also doing well. While in Winnipeg Mr. McLeod met F. B. Farclove, formerly of North Rustico who left the Island about 15 years ago and who has '_ held many important odices in that city and is one of the most popular residents. At Regina he met Mr. J. K. Mclnnis a former resident of Brookfield, now elitor of the Standard, also F. N. Dark foimerl y ot Hunter Rivet, now mayor of Regina and Mr. Balderson formerly of North Wiltshire _who is doing a large business in live stock. While at Regina Mr. McLeod selected from one of the beet farms a large quantity. of seed wheat for Mr. Horace Haszard of this city, samples of which will be forwarded to some of the lead- ing farmers of the Island. He speaks very highly of the \Vt-lst andthe pro- gress ofthe country during _ the past. seven veare and sees _a marked im- provement as he makes his visits each year.
