The deceased had been aiilicted for some years with asthma. and for some time 'before his' death he was troubled with heart failure. During the last three or four years of his life. he was confined from pursuit of his work, and at times was greatly distressed with his sickness. Yet, be endured this distress with the greatest calmness and patience. Mr. Nicholson was born in Scotiland, and emigrated when a youth with his parents, who settled- in Hansville. Later on' he settled in Rose Valley on a farm which st that time was prac- tically covered by forest. After years of persevering labor. he cleared the 'land and soon provided a comfortable home. This home was known far and widd for its kindness and hospitality it was a home in which the poor and coma and received the greatest sym pathy. Mr. Nicholson was s msn of an entertaining disposition and wss held in the highest rsqect by all who knew him. I-le was s very intelligent and broad-minded maa‘{:Id could dis- cuss current topics wi great in- terat. I-Io alwsyu showed a keen in- terest in anything which was for the wdiis/re of the community. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Role Valley. and for many yesn took an active part in the work ofthe church. l-Ie will be greatly missed in' the community where he was so well known, and especially in his home er one hundred* dollars was realized.
