The UPEI SUN, Thursday,» April .1, 1982, page; 10 ' mum”! VIEW. ' ’ THE Due to the end of the semester it is with great sorrow and pain that I must leave the most respected and honourable position on campus. Yes, the position of President of the UPEI Engineers must be vacated for the upcoming year. I hope that our existence on the campus has not gone unappreciated. Students of UPEI, it is a jungle in the real world and our past year of outraging pranks, obnoxious character and off colour humour has definitely prepared you for this real world. We are heartily sorry for these our misdoings: trying your nerves, chiseling in on your females, driving you to alcholism and insanity to the brink of suicide; well, gee, we were only frigging around. Once again, kncming all this preparation you received will not go unappreciated you may Show it in a less colourful way. The next time you see an engineering student at a bar, you may buy him a drink. He will grin, nod his head in appreciation and think to himself, there goes a truly intelligent person who appreCiateS NV. existence Finally to you the non-engineering students of UPEI, we wish the best of luck to you and look forward to your employment under us when you graduate. ‘ Sincerely, » Angus Orford _V I UPEI Engineers ‘ The Engineering. Basket-4 ball Team recently closed out one of the most " successful seasons in the organization history. The Engineers got» off to a slow start, compiling a record of 1 win and 3 losses before Christmas. However, the team rebounded in the second half of the schedule and did not lose another regular season game en route to v a sparkling 7 and 3 mark. In post—season play . the squad advanced to the _ league finals against the Warriors. In the best of three championship series the engineers lost two hard fought contests and were forced to settle for second place in the tough intramural loop. When asked about the club's resurgence after a dismal campaign last year, a team official attributed the recent success to the inspired play of veterans Brian MacAdam, Dean Morrissey, and Anita Ioucks. The vastly improved Sheldon Tweel, the strong inside play of Pat O'Grady and Fred O'Brien, and the fine outside shooting of Mike O'Grady were also factors in the emergence of the engineers as a legitimate basketball power. With the loss of six team members through graduation, the engineers will be relying on rookies Dale Boswall, Mitch Spence, and SOott Ramsay to carry on the winning tradition next year. The engineers also excelled in volleyball. The team totally dominated the league not losing a single match all season and went on to capture the-champion- ship by winning the post- season tournament.
