The pro- ductions of the soil seemed to be ex- cellent in every particular, and he thought -both the President of the As- sociatlon and the farmers deserved to before them. He pointed out that interest on the part of the farmers was indispensable to the success of the Exhibition. and those who did not exhibit would learn a great deal from what they saw. He urged the great importance: of co-operation pointing out that co-operation was the secret of success, evidenced especially by the _work of the Allied nations;-Brb tain- and her colonies, he said, were co-operating as well as Britain and her Allies. _ His Honour congratulated the Asso. ciation on the success of the Exhibi- tion and attributed no small part. of that success to the painstaking and eliterprislng efforts of Mr. l-leartz, the President. He than declared the Ex- hibition formally open. HON. MURDOCH McKiNNON. Hon. Murdoch McKinnon. Commis- sioner of Agriculture, then spoke. He paid that the Provincial Exhibition was one of the most important and most interesting occasions in the course of the year, and the present Ex- hibition he regarded as a great suc- cess. “We meet to-day," lie said, "under more favourable circumstan- ces than we have niet perhaps in many a year. The season opened favour- ably, the weather was all that could be desired, and we have more than an average 'crop harvested and well un- der cover.
